They are both used loosely as interchangeable words, but the truth is that these are not interchangeable at all. The author does an excellent job in explaining the differences and explaining the monolithic architecture with its problem that has persisted in industry for quite some time. Chapter 1 In , We get a glimpse of various Software Architecture Types like Monolith, SOA, Microservice, and Serverless, so a quick glance at all these architectures is a good refresher before we begin learning more about Microservices. The chapter also covers the positives and challenges of the microservice architecture and includes the State of Adoption of Microservices and other types of Architecture in 2021. Readers can see how many projects around the world are using each type of software architecture. Chapter 2 In , the author discusses the risks associated with microservice architecture if it is not planned properly. He shares various links for planning microservice architecture projects. The author lastly shares his own experiences in the projects he has worked on, which is a good lesson for any of us who get into details before we decide on the Microservices Strategy for our organizations.
